Bethlehem calls itself the Star of the White Mountains. This town has a bustling Main Street with cafes, artisans’ marketplace, historic movie theater, antiques shops, green building products, and more creative local enterprises. Bethlehem has some of the most stunning landscapes in the White Mountains. A large portion of the town in in the White Mountain National Forest. The grand hotels and guest houses drew thousands of summer residents in their 19th century heyday, and among them were the trampers who early members of the Appalachian Mountain Club.
The Ammonoosuc River runs right through Bethlehem. ACT was proud to complete the first private conservation project along the river in town, working with John and Jean Wedick.
