highest standards of land management

ACT owns over 1,200 acres. We manage this land for a range of community benefits, including:

•  Protecting clean water
•  Public recreation and aesthetic enjoyment
•  Protecting and enhancing wildlife habitat
•  Demonstrating good forest management
•  Environmental education
•  High quality timber
•  Climate change resilience
•  Hiring local loggers, truckers, and other contractors

We believe in ecologically, economically, and socially beneficial uses of the land. We are members of the Forest Stewards Guild, a national organization that promotes progressive forestry principles.

Several of our properties are certified as meeting the highest worldwide standards for forest management. By this summer, all of the land we own will be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. We earned this by demonstrating compliance with a set of rigorous principles covering a range of ecological, social, and management criteria. The FSC "green certified" logo appears on wood and wood products harvested from certified forests. Look for the next time you're buying lumber, furniture, or even toilet paper!
